Prince George, B.C. -  Coordinated efforts between the RCMP in Clearwater, Barriere, South East District and Kamloops avoided what could have been a serious domestic violence situation this afternoon.

Clearwater RCMP Corporal Chris Newel says the local detachment received word from Kamloops RCMP of threats being made to an individual in Clearwater and there was a report of a firearm being involved.

When police learned the person allegedly making the threats was en route from Kamloops to Clearwater, a team of officers from around the region was quickly mobilized.  Newel says a background check on the subject substantiated their concerns.

The suspect was taken into custody when he arrived in Clearwater, without incident.  Newel says the individual is in custody and facing threat-related charges.

No firearm was located, but police have since learned the individual may have had access to one.
