Prince George, B.C. – Future paediatric patients at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. can now enjoy some fresh air, thanks to the construction of an outdoor deck pay-area.

The new area was made possible through $200, 000 worth of donations . The largest personal donation came from Brent Marshall, owner of Northland Dodge Chrysler Jeep. He and his wife Kali donated $80 thousand dollars for the project.

The outdoor deck was built by Neudorf Construction, which worked very closely with paediatric staff to ensure that the play area would meet the highest standards for the safety and wellness of its young users.

Glass panels were installed around the perimeter, and special rubber tiles were applied to the floor of the deck to prevent injuries from falls. Access to the deck is through an automatic door and ramp that are large enough for a patient bed to be moved out to the play area, which also features a nurse-call button in case assistance is needed.
