The Chair of the City's Heritage Commission says the as-yet-unnamed individuals interested in acquiring KGV from the school district and moving it to a piece of privately-owned land are considering "their next step".
Back on January 23rd, Prince George City Councillors declined to grant the building heritage status, opting instead, to recommend the school district commemorate the former elementary by incorporating actual elements of the building, or its memory, into a proposed new high school on the site.
Heritage Commission Chair, Jo Graber, says the interested parties have already looked into moving the school and it's a viable option, with a price tag of approximately $50-thousand dollars. (click here, for earlier story)
Graber says they've been hoping to meet with the School Board Trustees to discuss the possibility. However, the group is not on tonight's agenda and the Board's next regularly scheduled meeting isn't until February 28th.
And, Grabers says, with several donors coming forward since city council's decision to offer up funds for the potential move, the anonymous individuals are considering going public later this week to set up a trust fund or establish a non-profit organization to handle the donations.
