The Coordinator of the upcoming Winter Opportunities Summit in Prince George says early bird registration for next week’s event has already surpassed the total number of participants last year.

Mary Graydon says well over 100 registrants have taken advantage of the $150.00 early bird fee for the three day gathering. The price has risen to $200.00 for those registering between now and the start of the summit next Thursday, February 9th.

Graydon says she’d like to see the number of registrations double, and is quite confident there will be between 170 and 200 attendees. While she says the majority of those registered are from Prince George, Graydon does say there will be a good regional representation as well – with interest from communities like Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, and Terrace.

The Winter Opportunities Summit is an initiative of the Prince George Spirit of B.C. Community and is billed as an opportunity to further development and strengthen existing capabilities in northern business, sport, and tourism in the run up to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver/Whistler. One of the keynote speakers is three-time Canadian Olympic speedskating medallist, Susan Auch.
