Lekstrom Says He Won't Run for Job as Party Leader
By 250 News
Prince George, B.C. -Peace River South MLA BLair Lekstrom has announced he will not seek the leadership of the Liberal Party.
Lekstrom quit the Liberal Caucus 5 months ago saying he had to represent the wishes of his constituents and since they were opposed to the HST he had no choice but to step down.
Lekstrom says he believes he is serving the people of his riding well as an MLA. In a statement released this morning, Lekstrom says his current job allows him to " maintain a quality of life with my family and friends that is second to none."
That makes two possible runners who are out of the race. Last week, Surrey Mayor Diane Watts made it clear she is not in the running.
It is expected Kevin Falcon, George Abbott, Rich Coleman and Mike deJong will make their intentions known this week.
There is still a gret deal of speculation that Carole Taylor is waiting in the wings before making her intentions known.
