"She has been released on a promise to appear facing drug trafficking charges."

So is it just me or do other people think there is a good chance she will forget her court date. Hold her, put her in front of a judge soon as possible, and if guilty sentence her then and there. Done and over with. This releasing people on a promise to appear is BS imho.
Ditto!
She's as good as gone.

This promise to appear business makes our police force appear incompetent. I know they're not. They're doing a damn fine job in most instances. So why go and release someone who is "responsible for most of the crack distribution downtown"?? I don't understand.
Police enforce the laws written by politicians, who in turn work for the common good of society. Then the judical system does whatever the hell they want. Something seems wrong with that equation.
ya drive to fast and lose your car on the spot...mmmm whats wrong? sell killer drugs and told to come back, what a great system we have.
Hey Porter, you forgot to mention lawyers in that there french stew yer cook'in. Man, when they get involved it's look fer the loopholes, maybe I'll get my name mentioned in the Law journal if I beat it, maybe I'll rise up above the rest and get more clients.
God, they frustrate me. But, all we can do is yell at our MP's, hopefully the Senate will make changes to the law.
But damn lawyers write the law, then other lawyers come along and cut little holes in them convincing judges that they're big holes. Damn Case Law. Doesn't allow a judge to follow his or her principles and sentence accordingly.
