Vanderhoof, B.C. -  RCMP are still saying very little with regards to what they're calling the 'recovery' of the body of a female earlier this morning in a rural area, but do say a 20-year-old male is in custody.

While details of the location have not been provided.  In a news release, Vanderhoof RCMP Staff-Sergeant Dave Beach says officers with both the Vanderhoof and Fort St. James detachments, along with the Conservation Service, were involved in the recovery.

Staff-Sergeant Beach says the man apprehended will remain in custody, "pending investigation and identification of the deceased."

Members of the North District Prince George Major Crime Unit are on-site and actively investigating the incident.  Beach says, "Investigators are cognizant of other on-going investigations underway in the area."

The North District's Senior Media Relations Officer, Corporal Dan Moskaluk, is expected to provide a further update later this afternoon, or early this evening.
