Prince George, B.C.- Investigators at the Pacific BioEnergy Pellet Plant in Prince George have determined the cause of the explosion that occurred at the plant on December 17th.
The ignition source for the blast was traced to sparks originating in the fiber drying system. The company has made a number to changes to prevent a recurrence.
While there are no specifics available at this time on what type of changes have been made, the plant did major upgrades this past year to its fire monitoring system, and that may well be part of the changes announced today to prevent further such situations.
The plant will return to normal operations tomorrow, January 6th.
There were no injuries in the December 17th explosion and the damage estimate is still not available.
