Although the Federal Gov't has been letting contracts to upgrade cell facilities to solid door to do away with bars in cells, there is absolutely no excuse for there to be bars on any cell in this day and age.The reason some cells have been upgraded is precisely for this reason, to curb suicide deaths in cells.
The Federal Government doesn't pay for those upgrades, the municipality pays for it for their own detachments.
Our tax dollars go to pay for the criminals to be in there never mind the upgrades to our prisons or police dept cells. Unfortunately, HE took his own life. I do feel for the family and friends for their loss, however there would be no problem with bars on cells if they kept their arses out of jail. If the criminals want to commit suicide then so be it, just proves how selfish they are. They may not feel pain anymore but they sure put their families through hell by doing such a selfish act.
How do you know he was a Criminal , only his Wife complained , no guilty until proven.
