Prince George, B.C- The  housing starts in Prince George for 2010  were up 46.9% over  starts in 2009.

According to the  latest stats from  Canada Mortgage and Housing,  starts dropped off in  December,  down  66.7%  over the same month in  2009.  There had been just 2  single family home starts in December of 2010 compared to  6  starts in the same month of  2009.

Provincially, the  single detached  housing starts in  2010  were up  49.7% over 2009, and  multiple starts  were up  87.3%  for an overall increase of  70.6%.  That increase was  largely  because of  a significant jump in the number of multiple family unit starts across the province.
