For the final time in the 2010-11 regular season, the Prince George Cougars face the Rockets in Kelowna. Friday will be the first of three games with the Rockets in eight nights as the Cougars look to make inroads on the Rockets in the BC division.
Friday is the seventh of nine meetings this season between the Cougars and Rockets and last get-together at Prospera Place. Although the Cougars won the first game of the season series 6-2 on September 25, the Rockets have managed five straight wins since, including a 6-2 victory the last time they squared off on January 19 in Kelowna. The Cougars go into the game winners of their last two outings, with a 9-5 victory over the Kamloops Blazers Wednesday being the latest triumph, which put the Cougars record to 24-21-2-1. The Cougars go into the game three points behind Kelowna for second in the division and four back of the Vancouver Giants. The Rockets go into the contest on a roll, with four straight victories and taking 6 of their last 7.
Nick Buonassisi leads the Cougars with seven points in six games against the Rockets this season and after a four point night against the Blazers Wednesday, Buonassisi leads the Cougars with 45 points during the season. Brett Connolly, who came back from a knee injury after two weeks off, had two goals against the Blazers to give the Prince George Captain 27 tallies on the season, a team high.
The Cougars head to Everett Saturday for their first meeting with the Silvertips this season, then come home for back-to-back games with the Rockets next weekend at CN Centre, starting at 7:00pm both nights. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
