Carnival To Celebrate Family Literacy

Parents and kids take in the 'Carnival' at Bob Harkins Branch of the library
Prince George, B.C. - The beautiful sunshine, but cold wind, made the Bob Harkins Branch of the Prince George Public Library the perfect place to be this afternoon...
With sunlight streaming in the windows, parents followed their children from station-to-station to take part in this aftenoon's carnival, celebrating Family Literacy Day.
Three-year-old Julius Isaac was enjoying fishing for letters at two wading pools set up near the library's aquarium.
Despite family members' attempts to encourage him onward, Julius cast his line 'one more time'.
Stations were set up o both levels of the library and in the Keith Gordon room and included everything from karaoke read-and-sing, to ABC twister, and a table to make playdough letters that kept a large number of youngsters busy for quite some time.
Four-year-old Nicholas Clements on the right and his big brother, 6-year-old Zachary, were seriously intent on their work...not really wanting to be bothered with a picture!
Family Literacy Day is an annual event that takes place across the country to celebrate adults and children reading and learning together.
This year's theme was 'Play for Literacy' and playing was certainly part of the library's carnival.
