Gerry Offet is tring to lay the groundwork for the day when he will no longer  lead Initiatives Prince George.

Offet says he expects to retire next year, and to that end, had wanted Council to approve a budget enhancement that would have allowed for the search and recruitment of his replacement.

That amount was $82,500.00

The request has been deferred, however, Offet has not indicated if that means he will put his retirement plans on hold as well.

I wonder if anyone else recalls the day some 5 or so years ago when two people rather than one were hired for that position with the understanding that the junior person who was brought in from Terrace, and is now the Director of Business Development of the Vancouver Economic Development Corporation, would be learning the duties of the position with Mr. Offet's help since Mr. Offet brought good credentials from his postion in Manitoba, I believe, and was planning on retiring within a couple of years and Mr. Veldman could then take over the reigns.

The best laid plans of mice and men, etc. etc. .... :-)

I wonder what transition plans are in place now if any?
LETS SEE IF DAN ROGERS WOULD TAKE THIS POSITION.HE WOULD DO A GREAT JOB,AND MORE IMPORTANTLY HE LIKES PRINCE GEORGE.
Bye Bye Offet, can't say as I really hear of you until now and I have lived here 34 years. So how immportant are you really?
Good plan giterdun!! ..

He's been in PR & Marketing postions for some time, I believe, he knows the inner workings of the City. He should be able to start the job running .....

I would find it very interesting to see what he would be able to accomplish, especially in the years coming up which will need to address diversified growth.
Wagon wheels are hard to come by these days. We are looking for some so that we can build a red river cart.
