January Slow Start for Regional District Building Permits

Prince George,. B.C. – The  first month of 2011 shows a slow start when it comes to building permits being issued for the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.
 
There were just 14 permits issued last month, down from the 20 issued in January of 2010.
 
The values are also down, with the total value in January hitting $254 thousand, compared to $555,000 in January of 2010.   There was only one permit issued for a single family dwelling last month, compared to  3 in January of last year.
 
Since 2007, the highest number and value of permits issued in a January happened in the first month of 2008. That year got off to a start with 24 permits worth  $889,000 being issued in the first month.

I suspect the weather has something to do with it, it is colder and snowier this year over last.
I agree, last year was pretty mellow. You can`t make predictions like this from stats.
Who wants to work outside with this weather.
How can we sell houses with people leaving for Ab?
Most of those houses are built with cheap crap and sold as though they were solid wood with gold trim. Actually, there is no money to be made building a house. The money is made from the increase in property value once the house is up. Building a house costs a lot less than you think.
