Phase One of the Prince Rupert Port Authority's Fairview Container Terminal has gone out to tender...

And two Prince George firms are listed among 13 pre-qualified bidders.  That pre-qualification period occured back in October.  Local companies, Wayne Watson Construction and JV-Clark Builders/IDL Projects, are two of four pre-qualified for the "buildings" portion of the project.  There are four companies pre-qualified for "electrical equipment" and another five for "uplands development".

The Northern B.C. Construction Association has listed the project in its weekly "Plans on Display".  The Association is advising that no hard copy plans are available, NBCCA members are being invited to view the specifications in the Online Planroom.

The closing date on the bid is this coming Thursday, February 23rd.

When the Port Authority announced at the end of January that the conversion of the Fairview Terminal had been given the green light, it also announced a joint venture partnership involving another Prince George company, Western Industrial Contractors, to complete the wharf construction, the first contract relating to the terminal development.  The entire project is estimated to cost $110-million dollars, with the wharf contract representing roughly one-third of the construction budget.

According to the Port Authority, WIC will carry out the concrete and civil work of the marine portion of the project and will construct both the new deck and the structure to carry the new rails for three large container cranes to be installed at the terminal.

Awesome!
GREAT NEWS. WHO ARE THE OTHER CONTRACTORS?
Great news. Good to hear. When can we expect Mr. Offert to take credit for this selecting of PG contractors?
