Prince George, B.C.-  A former  Teacher at D.P. Todd Secondary is facing  charges  stemming from interactions with two former students.

The Prince George RCMP has confirmed charges have been laid against 66 year old John Triplett a former gym teacher and basketball coach at DP Todd Secondary in Prince George. The charges include a number of sexual related offences that resulted from alleged  inappropriate interactions with two former students during the 1980’s. Triplett was hired in Prince George in the late 1970’s as a gym teacher and basketball coach. He taught at DP Todd until the mid 1980’s when he moved from the city.

The Prince George RCMP Serious Crime Section worked together with partners in the Surrey School District where Triplett was actively teaching prior to this investigation beginning in September 2009. Upon learning of this investigation, the Surrey School Board took steps to ensure students' safety pending the outcome of this investigation.

Triplett appeared in Prince George Provincial Court earlier today to answer to the allegations.
