Shaw Adds TV Japan to Services for Live Coverage of Tsunami and Quake

In the wake of recent devastation caused by the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Shaw Communications Inc. has made TV Japan available to all Digital TV customers.
“Our hearts go out to the people impacted by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan,” said Peter Bissonnette, President, Shaw Communications Inc. “In times like this we pull together to ensure information is easily accessible – it’s important to Shaw to ensure that we share news about the disaster in whatever way we can.”
TV Japan is broadcast in Japanese and features exclusive video coverage of the disaster. Coverage can be found on channel 514 and will remain available to all Shaw Digital TV customers until March 17. TV Japan normally is a subscription-based service but will be available for customers following the disaster.
Shaw will also provide free long-distance calls to Japan for Shaw Home Phone customers – retroactive to 5 p.m. MST on March 10. Free long distance to Japan will continue until further notice.
