Vancouver, B.C.-  The  digging in the basement of a Vancouver home has  been  completed and Vancouver Police say they have not found any  human remains.

Acting on information from  the son of a  Burns Lake woman,  police started a dig in the home on March 9th.  The son had  told them he witnessed the murder of his mother, Catherine Mary Brown of Burns Lake, at the hands of his  abusive father.

The murder was said to have happened in 1977.

The son's story  was corroborated by  a sibling  who said he recalls  having to haul home the bags of cement used to fill in the  basement grave.

After a week of  digging, police  were not able to find any human remains in the home.

Weird.
Why would they both lie about this?
Hmmm....
I never saw or read any news reports that said they witnessed the body being buried in the basement.
Come to think of it Dragonmaster..neither did I.
The guy said what they would find in the hole, but did he see it actually put there with the body?
Strange.
Drugs induced Memories ,screwed up Brains,
Yes, Global BC reported it about a week ago and they interviewed the guy. He remembers seeing his father bury his mother. I couldn't find the link on Global BC but here's the one from CBC.

The "son" here is the story.
He had something to do with it.
I think he is trying to throw Police off the track.
He is acting very strange.
The son was 5 years old when she was murdered. If he had anything to do with the murder, he would be too young to have any responsibility such as an adult would have.

People have different recollections of things that happened to them at that age. Some are clear as a bell, some are almost totally lacking, and some have become embellished over the years.

Do we know anything of the family situation the kid found himsdelf in at that time?
I heard him (the son, Sturtz?) on the radio yesterday, now he is saying that the family lived in two of the townhouses at different times in the same complex, and the cops went to the wrong one. He says he told them which one the body was under, but that they went to the other one.
This guy is an admitted addict.
My intuition tells me to carefully consider any sort of information that is offered by an addict, or in this case, a recovering addict. I have known addicts who are brilliant liars. Not saying he is not telling the truth, but........
metalman.
