Prince George, B.C.- The World Baseball Challenge has a new level of sponsorship from the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays were a sponsor of the 2009 tournament, and have increased their involvement dramatically for 2011. For that reason, the Toronto Blue Jays are now an official Major Presenting Sponsor of the World Baseball Challenge, and a new tournament logo to be unveiled soon will reflect their contributions.

“We can’t say enough about the encouragement and assistance we have received from the Blue Jays – what a class organization, one that is heading back to the top of the baseball world once again,” said World Baseball Challenge chairman Jim Swanson.

Senior Vice-President of Business Operations, Stephen Brooks, is from Prince George, “To know that one of Prince George’s own, Stephen Brooks, is guiding the business side of the Blue Jays should make all of us in this city very proud indeed”  says Swanson.

“The Blue Jays are committed to growing interest and participation in the game of baseball across all of Canada,” said Brooks. “Our support of tournaments such as the World Baseball Challenge as well as our recently-announced Honda Super Camps are all part of our plans to fulfill this commitment. We are excited to be part of the 2011 World Baseball Challenge in Prince George.”

The Blue Jays, as part of their support of the World Baseball Challenge, announced last week one of seven stops of the Honda Super Camps will be in Prince George for July 4-6, featuring former Blue Jays players Lloyd Moseby, Duane Ward, Rance Mulliniks and Mark Eichhorn. Registration for the youth camp is available at  www.bluejays.com.
