The heavy snowfall warning remains in effect, but the worst of the storm seems to have moved east of Prince George. The  heavy snowfall is great news for snowmobile enthusiasts, but there are some words of caution as well.

The  colder temperatures, followed by this snowfall  means there are new avalanche risks in the back country, especially on south facing slopes that  had a crust of snow,  and now a new dumping of the white stuff.

The Canadian Avalanche Association says the risk of avalanche in the McBride, Valemount areas is high,  and the situation is expected to be the same in the Pine Pass area, although data for that  particular region is not as complete.

The Canadian Avalanche Association is updating its information and should have the new information and warnings posted  later this afternoon.  You can get that information by clicking here.
