The family of the late Aeilah Saric-Auger has issued a 'thank you' to city residents who have sent donations on their behalf to the Prince George Native Friendship Centre.
The family is thanking those who have so generously sent in cash, food and clothing, along with their wishes and prayers. Family members left for Northern Alberta last week to lay the remains of the 14-year-old teen to rest.
The grade 8 student from DP Todd was reported missing in early February. Her body was discovered in a ditch along Highway 16-east, near Tabor Mountain, on February 10th.
Police will confirm the young teen's death is the subject of a homicide investigation, but are releasing few other details, except to say they do not believe it's connected to any of the other missing women along the so-called, "Highway of Tears". The Saric-Auger family says, based on the information they have received, they also share that belief.
The 14-year-old was last seen at approximately 10pm, Thursday, February 2nd, near a pub on Strathcona Avenue. Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George RCMP Detachment at 561-3300.
Donations for a trust fund are being accepted by the Executive Director of the Prince George Native Friendship Centre at 1600 Third Avenue.
