Shaun Greffard, the new Telus G.M for B.C. Interior

Telus reps sat before Prince George City Council this evening to talk about concerns raised in the wake of last summer's labour dispute.

Prince George is  the largest  service centre outside of the lower mainland,  with 217 employees and a payroll of $13 million.  That will not change,  said Tony Geheran as he introduced Shaun Greffard as the new General Manager of the Interior Telus operations.  He will be moving his family to P.G. from Vancouver.

Projects include  improved wireless services, with expansion to  Burns Lake, and faster wireless.

"We would like to see the jobs here grow and will not be contracting any of the jobs here,  overseas, and have assured our employees of that" said Tony Geheran.    He also advised that while there are plans to improve services between Prince George and points west, there is no plan for an improvement of wireless services out of Mackenzie.

The labour dispute is behind us, says Geheran, and now Telus wants to move forward and continue being  involved in the community.  He noted Telus is a key sponsor for the Cougars, and  is establishing  community boards to identify charities they can support.

oh so now that the labour dispute is over, Telus is back tracking on it's plan to improve wireless (cell) services to Mackenzie. Shame on Telus! That was one of the key announcements that Telus made when the strike was imminent! Once again Telus is showing what poor business practices are all about. In my opinion the "future is not friendly at Telus"
"We would like to see the jobs here grow and will not be contracting any of the jobs here, overseas, and have assured our employees of that" said Tony Geheran.

TELUS have consistently denied their contracting out overseas but were proven to be lying: http://www.iwindow.com/finian#news
If TELUS won’t be cutting back any of the jobs in Prince George like they are doing across B.C. with this new contract, when then is Tony here moving with his family to Vancouver where property costs are soaring?
Getting mad that a company can find a better way to serve their customers is a fact of life. If you are an employee anywhere and think you have security and a pension and that some how when you retire their will be something there you’re kidding yourself. If you want income security you had better start diversifying your income sources. The definition of ‘risk’ is one income source.
As for Telus employees complaining here is a possible plan for you:

Action
1) Buy Telus stock on a regular basis.
2) Be the best employee you can be and give the best service to Telus customers as you can.
3) Buy more Telus stock.
4) Encourage and share this plan with fellow employees.

Result
1) Because you and your fellow employees are doing a great job, customer satisfaction goes up.
2) Customer satisfaction goes up you end up with more customers.
3) The more customers you have the better Telus does.
4) The better Telus does the higher the Telus stocks do.
5) The higher the stocks go the better you (a stock holder) do.
6) So, with or with out a job at Telus you will be doing well as it will be in your best interest to see Telus profit go up which equals a stable and maybe growing stock value (income) for you.

PS – The fact that the Telus Union suggested during the strike to tell customers to stop all their phone options was shooting themselves in the foot. Cancel options and give crap service and you don’t hold stock. Stock value goes down and Telus looks for ways to replace you and rightfully so.
All public companies have to be profitable to pay shareholders (stock holders like you) so it is a win-win situation if you’re a Telus employee. Unlike most people you have a unique ability to have a great paying job and benefits and have a positive impact on the company value and at the same time be a stock holder and benefit from that as well.
Ain’t it great…
