The City of Prince George has released some more information on the plans to  help develop an indoor soccer  facility in a School District 57 warehouse.

As already outlined in our story  of earlier this week, (click here for details)the School Board has agreed to lease the facility to the City, who in turn will sub-lease it to Youth Soccer. This initiative will help in meeting the growing program needs for youth indoor soccer players.

The new information about the block facility at 9th and Winnipeg  is that it will house two indoor fields, and  renovations will cost about $150 thousand dollars.

Youth Soccer plans to raise the funds through grants and user pay arrangements with the operating costs being paid by Youth Soccer through registrations and other initiatives.

PGYSA President John Reed says “This facility will complement existing facilities, in particular the two adult size indoor fields at the Northern Sport Centre. We plan to start immediately with fund raising and renovation plans so the facility can be ready for the 2006 fall indoor program.”

Lease discussions will follow over the next few months.
