Four P.G. Residents To Receive B.C. Achievement Award

Four people from Prince George  are among 44 British COlumbians who  will receive a B.C. Community Achievement Award.

The four are:
John Brink: recognized  for being a leader in the economic development of Prince George and his support of the arts sports and service organizations
Noreen Rustad: Her support of the arts, UNBC and extensive volunteer committments
Tom and Jean Leboe: for  many years  of service as foster parents and their  dedication to the Foster Parents Association

“It is our privilege to recognize the work of the individuals whose efforts and accomplishments help make British Columbia’s communities better places to live,” says Premier Gordon Campbell. “We can all be inspired by their leadership, selflessness and determination.” 

The recipients of the 2006 British Columbia Community Achievement Awards will be recognized in a formal presentation ceremony at Government House in Victoria on April 26. Each individual will be presented with a certificate and a medallion designed by B.C. artist Robert Davidson.

One of the things I truly take pride in with Prince George, is the caliber of community boosters we have. Yes, we have a good number of naysayers, but they are by far outshined by the contribution of those who actually get off their duffs to do something. I can think of many more names I'd like to see recognized on this list sometime soon, but for now, thanks to those already named... you stand in proud company.
