Minister of Children and Families, Stan Hagen ( shown at left) was here in Prince George to announce a funding  grant.

The Prince George Native Friendship Centre has received $50,000 dollars from the Provincial government, to help the Centre with early childhood development.

Deputy Premier Shirley Bond told the crowd that one in every four children entering school at the kindergarten level are  not yet ready to learn.  This money will be used to reverse that trend.

How will this money be used? Early childhood development begins at home. Why not give every parent of a preschool child a grant to help them with early childhood development? Percy
Seems like a reasonable initiative to me.
One in four not ready to learn?
When I started school it was more like 90%, of the boys anyway. Doesn't look like much has changed. Except the government seems to say it is the Early North Americans that are a problem.
