There is word the Province has plans to make training and licensing mandatory for home inspectors. The move is meant to protect potential home buyers.
Many a real estate deal has been confirmed or lost based on the results of a home inspection, and buyers need to be certain they can trust the expertise of a home inspector.
Right now, it is up to the consumer to be sure their inspection is being done by a person qualified to do the job.
With the real estate market red hot in Prince George, Scott Livingstone of Central Interior Property Inspections says the move should be a plus for his industry and potential customers.
Already a member of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors, Scott has already received certification under the Association’s stringent guidelines. He has also just been chosen to be part of a national home inspection certification pilot project. “I’m just waiting for all the paperwork to be delivered.”
Livingstone welcomes the Provincial promise of mandatory licensing and training in his field as it should increase consumer confidence.
There is speculation the mandatory training and licensing will be put in place before the end of the year.
