Last week a survey suggesting that Canadians were Hydro hogs hit the streets.

It seems that New Zealand and the US use less electricity then we do per capita. What an amazing study.

How in the world did it make the pen much less the paper when some basic old home spun thinking would have decided the issue in a moment? Survey folks, the major population of both of those countries live south of the 43 parallel in those countries. You know less sun light in the winter when you need that electricity the more you need the power to maintain the lights, heat equipment and other services that draw power down .

We in Canada live north of the 49th , now that might come as a surprise to many but it is a fact. While much of our population lives near the 49th parallel. There is a vast difference between the 49th and the 43 which is the San Francisco area.

It goes to prove that you can take a statistic and make it work for you in more ways than one. BC Hydro may have been saying that indeed we use more power than the US and New Zealand. It will also come as a surprise that we use much more natural gas and fossil fuel now what do you suppose causes that to happen?

Is it too warm in Canada and we need winter air conditioning... I don’t think so.

I’m Meisner and that is one man's opinion.
