A CN car of "caustic soda" jumped the tracks at Canfor’s Intercon pulp mill in Prince George earlier today, but the railway says it was a minor incident.

"I would label this as very minor" says CN’s spokesman Graham Dallas "A couple of employees were switching a car into a customer’s facility when two front wheels came off the track."

Dallas says the car remained upright "There was no spill of any materials, the car remained upright, there were no injuries, no damage to the environment." This is the second incident on CN tracks in the Prince George area in the last 5 months. An incident last December prompted City Council to request the presence of CN’s Vice President Western Division to appear before Council. Peter Marshall made that appearance in March.

wonderful....except that it was sulphuric acid....and yes no spill, THIS TIME.....I suppose all is well until someone gets injured or heaven forbid worse.
BC Govt get off your duff and do something, even if it is wrong do something.... i would ask city of PG but that is a waste of time.... they would only have another study....
Is any Canadian National derailment more than "minor" or is this the only word their spin drs. are allowed to use?
The dead-end tracks in that location have a de-railing device attached which derails the car if it is pushed too far. It is a required safety feature.

If that particular sulphuric acid car was indeed pushed past this limiting device the result (i.e. derailment) was entirely predictable.
