So far, the donations to the Prince George committment of the Northern Medical Trust, are at $1.6 million dollars. That's $400 thousand short of the committment. That's the word from the fundraising Chairman, Tim Currie.

Along with Tom Berekoff, the Development Officer of UNBC Currie explained how a donation request has gone to each and every home in the February utilities billing. The plan was to have families make a committment of $1 dollar per wek for the next three years for a total committment of $156.00. Currie says with just 10% agreeing to make that committment, the fundraising goal could be reached.

The dollars from the Trust will be used to offset extraordinary expenses of medical students training in Prince George and surrounding communities. In fact, the Trust has already made some funds available to the students.

The Trust's total goal is to raise $6 million throughout the north, from Ft. Nelson to Williams Lake, Valemount to Prince Rupert by 2007.
