Later this morning, Mayor Colin Kinsley and members of Council will be  hosting an event at  the Pine Centre Mall.

They  will be pushing  the importance of  the upcoming Stats Canada Census, set for May 16.

Information gathered  will help  with planning efforts for schools, public transportation, and community programs and services.   The data also translates into dollars.

“For each person counted, the local community receives approximately $1,100 in federal transfer payments."  says Mayor Kinsley  "Over the five years following each Census count, that translates into $5,500 per person that is received by our community. Those funds can make a big difference in a host of ways from health care and post-secondary education to social services. So I urge everyone to please ensure they are counted in the Census.”

Today's event takes place at 11:00, in the Courtyard of the Pine Centre Mall.

There are some changes to the Census this year.

While  most  forms will be sent out  by mail, there will be some enumerators in the rural regions, and  the Census can also be completed online.

There ares some new questions, including:

-where individuals received their highest level of education, allowing analysis of inter-provincial/territorial and international flows of skilled personnel.
-a question that would allow Stats Canada to use income information  in your income tax file in lieu of answering the income questions
-two other income questions were added to the questionnaire on income from child benefits and income tax paid.
-a new question has been added, asking respondents to allow Statistics Canada to make their information public in 92 years. By agreeing to the release of this information, respondents will allow researchers and genealogists to learn more about Canadian society in 2006.

Or maybe Kinsley wants to be sure there is more money so he can travel more? Or maybe have a study to see if the study they are studying really needs to be studied
My form goes in the garbage. I'm not voluntarily going to be inventoried. The more the government knows, the more tax we pay. It's called fine tuning and the purpose is "Taxed to the Max".
The information the government wants, eliminates the need for the MLA's to know the people in their ridings. Instead people are governed by recomendations from the servants, and the MLA's shrug their shoulders.
The $1,100 being talked about is nothing, a fraction, compared to what we pay the Feds. It's a bride with our own money to get more information to get more taxes. We would be saving twice that amount if people would stop telling the government what they have. What kind of idiot would stick up his hand and say "Tax me! Tax me!"? Anyone that believes in more government to spend more money we don't have, I guess.
Look at how much money the government wastes already! Great job.
As you can see from the article above, the government servants will soon bypass the right for privacy, and go straight to your tax file anyway. It must be inconvenient for the government to allow their inventory to have some privacy. Their is always a need for someone elses money.
To travel we need USA approved ID, kids will have an E Chip installed at birth and a bar code on their neck.
Don't laugh, it just takes a little step at a time, just fill out your forms, and you shouldn't mind being "Taxed to the Max" one step at a time.
Government for the sake of government is like farming, once you get the sheep going in the direction you want, the rest will follow, to get sheared or slaughtered.
by law I must be counted in...so here goes "one" now leave me alone
The government actually thinks that Stats Canada will be around in 92 years?

I guess knowing how much James Kardash from 512 Hamilton Street in South Fort George made in 1914 and where he got his highest education from would really help us in getting along in today's society.
