Having Your Say On Development Cost Charge Review

The City of Prince George  will take another step on the revamping of Development Cost Charges today.  One of two  open house sessions  is scheduled to take place at City Hall.

From 1-3 today, City Staff will be on hand in Council Chambers to  explain the proposed bylaw and get your thoughts on the  proposed changes.

The most significant change is the designation of development areas,  where charges are linked to the status of infrastructure.  The map below shows the four basic regions:

The City says the change  is needed for a variety of  reasons including a need to adjust  for growth trends, to set rates that are in keeping with the cost of  infrastructure and to accomodate projected development  for the next ten years.

As part of the process of developing a new Development Cost Charge bylaw,  a comparison with other cities has been prepared:

There will also  be a an open house session tomorrow evening 7-9 again at the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The public input process is  open until the 25th of this month, after which a final report will be drafted for presentation to Council.
