Regional District of Fraser Fort George wrapped up 2005 with a small surplus.  The books were in the black to the tune of $980,000.

That is a slight decrease from the surplus recorded in 2004 when the amount was $1.2 million.

The most significant changes were in the “fiscal Services division where $9.2 million was paid to cover interest and principle on debentures.  That represented a $3 million dollar increase over 2004.

The report also noted a reduction in Administration costs of $500 thousand, decreases in policing and safety costs of $700 thousand, a $500 thousand dollar increase in recreational and cultural services and a 1% increase in salaries and benefits which pushed that total to $3.78 million.
