Waiting for Hours of Service Decision
By 250 News
It could be another two weeks before there is a decision on how many hours truckers should legally be allowed to log.
The suggestions presented to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement Branch in B.C. were as varied as the people who drive the rigs.
There were suggestions of five, 12 hour days with two days off, through to 18 hours a day with added flexibility to accomodate areas with a short log haul season. The difficulty in gaining concensus on the matter rises in different conditions in different parts of the province, and their respective length of hauling season.
Insiders say that while a final decision was to be delivered at the end of the month, it is more likely the decision will be available by the middle of June.
