A 20 year old Kispiox man was in Supreme Court Chambers in Prince George this morning, but a trial date was not set as expected.

Instead, Vernon Kyle Wilson was remanded in custody to the 11th of September when lawyers say a trial date may be fixed. Defense counsel also indicated Wilson may re-elect to have his case heard by Supreme Court Judge alone, rather than by a judge and jury.

Wilson is charged with first degree murder in the New Years' Day death of 20 year old Candace Marie Kalmokoff. The body of the first year College of New Caledonia nursing student was discovered behind a 15th Avenue business. Police said Kalmakoff died at a city home and her body was transported to the location where it was found. RCMP have not released the cause of death.

Wilson was described by police as a friend of the victim.
