It was a busy Saturday night for Prince George RCMP.

Just before midnight last night, two males entered a house on Eaglenest Crescent; they were confronted by the home owner. One suspect was found on top of a garden shed a short distance away while another of the suspects was picked up outside a residence a short distance away. In addition to being charged with break and entry, one of the two is also facing a charge of assaulting a police officer.

In another separate incident a youth has been arrested and charges of arson are expected after a shed was destroyed and a nearby house in the 1300 block of Douglas Street received damag.  From what police have been able to put together with the help of neighbors, it was a deliberately set fire. That fire took place at about 2.00 Sunday morning.

Earlier on, at 10:45, police received a call that people in the 1500 block of 12th Ave were being confronted by some youths.  The youths were said to  have a weapon and were making threats and demanding money. Three people were arrested a short distance away and a charges of Assault and robbery are expected against an 18 and 21 year old later today.

Finally police are requesting the public’s assistance in their search for a 1998 red Ford Windstar bearing BC license plate GMB 732. The vehicle was stolen from a residence on Cranbrook Hill following a break and entry. The vehicle was spotted on Ahbau St. early last evening. Four males were in the vehicle, one of the passengers was described as a native male with a tribal tattoo on his right shoulder.

Its nice to see the police are nailing these thieving buggers. Personally I think they should be hobbled with a baseball bat to the ankle bones.
Maybe then they would they think before tresspassing on private property again.
But Thanks to C-68 a home owner is not allowed to defend themselves or their property.
They'll bring their own baseball bat then ...

then the homeowner will use a machete ...

and the perp will bring theirs ....

and on an on it goes ....

great suggestion wrinkledawg .... escallation is the way to get rid of all this violence.
They have to be able to write or talk to complete a police complaint form.

Either that or give them a map to Owl's house.
Throw the book at them and lock them up. Keep locking them up until all those people who have a tendancy to steal, vandalize etc. get the message. We are not going to tolerate their behavior anymore.

We have to because we are not allowed to take the law into our own hands. But,I do have a baseball bat and I have no hesitation to use inside my own home to protect my family. I will just make sure I drag the lowlifes down to the street before I phone the ambulance to pick them up. The RCMP can't do anything with them. Chester
Well you can put them in jail, however this means they will have to put up with Colored T.V. Recreation Breaks, Work Breaks, Smoke Breaks, and of course they will have to spend some time with their buddies. Then of course you can throw in time off for good behaviour, and parole. Tough life for a crook.

At the very minimum they should not be allowed any perks for going to jail.

This is a huge problem and I dont know what the answer is.
It's a huge industry: Cops, defence lawyers, prosecutors, judges, jails, wardens, cooks, cafeteria staff, janitorial people, parole officers, counsellors, and so forth.

I imagine that if all crime would reduce itself drastically it would cause massive layoffs and unemployment.

A status quo is apparently what society in general is willing to accept.

It just goes on, like a merry-go-round.
Poverty is usually blamed for these types of crimes. However, there are a lot of people who are just at or under the poverty line who don't B&E homes, rob people in the street, steal cars or shoplift as they are too busy raising kids and working hard for the little that they have so its time that jail seems a little more scary. I think we should all have "Sheriff Joe's" in our system - no cable t.v., no 3 course meals, no internet and no time to sit around. Poor people cannot afford the things you get in jail - they eat mac & cheeze, they work hard at minimum wage jobs and can't afford a computer so if it is good enough for them it should be the best you'll get in jail. Sheriff Joe says if they don't like it - don't come back! Time to make going to jail a horrible experience that you don't want to repeat.
I knew a cook that worked at the jail. The crooks are very demanding, and there is big trouble if the crooks aren't kept happy.

Must be getting close to winter. The boys are looking for a warm place to spend the winter.
Dear Palopu

Both correctional centres in P.G. have had a non smoking policy for a few years now.
