Forest firefighters responded to six human-caused fires over the Labour Day long weekend.

The largest  was about 13 hectares in size and is about 55km northeast of Fort St. John.  It was first reported to the Fire Centre on Friday, the 1st of September and has since been turned over to the landowner.

That wasn't the only fire in the Fort St. John area,  there was a blaze about 10 hectares in size about 70km southeast of Fort St. John.

The  other  4 fires were less than one hectare in size. Two are being monitored by crews and two have been extinguished.

The lack of rain, combined with winds and warm weather, has lead to a high to extreme fire danger rating throughout most of the Prince George Fire Centre. The lack of precipitation in the long-range forecast means the risk of fire activity will remain throughout the week.
