No Hockey = Birth rate Boost?

In a discussion this week, Obstetrician/Gynocologist Dr.Brian Galliford, raised the matter of why he had been so busy lately. He says it seems that births are away up over last year in this region. He says "I wonder if in part if it came about as a result of no NHL hockey last year?"
Well that resulted in a big discussion that can only be solved by you.
The question is, “Do you think that the NHL strike is the reason for a sharp increase in the number of births this year?” Now I don’t expect, or want, ALL the details of how you have passed the time with no Hockey Night in Canada, just some basic thoughts.
I said to Doc. "Is it in fact possible that we are now entering a period in history where more people are having children and in fact more of them?" Galliford did concede that women are having babies much later in life than previously. In the old days if a woman became pregnant after forty, it was usually a signal that something had gone wrong during her entering menopause. That is certainly not the case today and there have been documented cases where Grammas (some approaching their fifties)are having children .
So the jury sits with you this weekend, as we call upon you to ponder this important bit of information. It also gives you and, as Doc refers to her, “The Mrs." to give us a clear insight.
After all, given our recent weather I can’t see many people with beach towel and sun tan lotion in hand heading out to the lake this weekend so in the interest of not blaming the terrible weather this year for an increase in births, I call upon you to solve the mystery.
In this case, it’s everyone’s opinion
