Don’t put away that fall wear just yet. Environment Canada is making the prediction that the months of October, November, and December will be warmer than normal. Added to that, the forecaster also calls for less than normal precipitation during the months leading into the year end.

There is, according to their predictions, a 60% chance that the temeratures will be above normal during the next three months, while there is a 70% prediction that precipitation will be lower than normal.

The area to the north of the Pine Pass, the Peace River country is also expected to see less than normal precipitation and above normal temperatures. Some farmers and ranchers are facing severe shortages of feed for their cattle because of the dry conditions that have taken place in the region over the past summer.

A similar situation to a lesser extent exists in the region to the west of Prince George. Precipitation is also expected to below normal for the next three months. In some regions around Dawson Creek the crop yield was as low as 20% of normal due to the hot dry summer.

The Mighty Muddy Fraser looks more like a creek these days.
