The Air Qaulity Advisory continues as the levels of fine particulate are still too high.

Twenty-four hour levels were 56 at Downtown, 29 at College Heights and 61 at the BCR site at 4:00 this afternoon.

This Air Quality Advisory is expected to be in effect until late tomorrow morning, with an update to be provided tomorrow before noon.

The Air Quality Health Index is sitting at 9, which is a "poor" rating.

as of 9:00 p.m. tonight a HIGH HEALTH RISK..............

What exactly does that mean????
It means if you are sick and dying the air will do you no good.
An air inversion is trapping pollutants in the bowl area preventing them from dispersing.

This pollution is a combination of industrial emissions, heating emissions, and car/truck exhaust. Severely amplifying the problem is wood smoke from people who are burning slash piles, leaves & grass, or from folks who are still burning inefficient wood fireplaces and stoves.

Province should not be granting burn permits to anyone within the air shed during these periods. City should enforce ban on backyard burning, and look at implementing a plan to prevent the installation of non-EPA certified wood furnaces and boilers, and to force residents to upgrade their old inefficient wood burning appliances just as Houston and other cities have.
