Fairly Quiet Halloween

Prince George RCMP had 22 uniformed members, 10 plainsclothes, 3 police dog units, 9 auxiliary constables and 4 citizens on patrol to make sure the city was covered for any Halloween tricks.

Between 7 last night and 4 this morning,  police responded to 67 calls,  and 14 people  ended up spending the night in jail. 

Fireworks were nearing the top of the list for calls.

Police  attended to a call on Lyon Street where some young pepole were setting off  fireworks and smashing pumpkins.   Police notified the parents and the youngsters  apologized to their neighbours.

Police were called to Domano Boulevard where two car loads of youths were said to be  drinking alcohol as they waited for a fireworkds display to get underway.  The vehicles left the scene before police arrived.

There was a call about  two groups of young people launching firworks at each other at the Hart Highway Elementary School property.  They had fled the scene by the time police showed up.

Some kids in the Rainbow Drive and Ospika Boulevard region were  the target of thieves.  A blue Honda pulled over, four people got out, took the bags of candy ( one contained the trick or treater’s wallet) then  got back into the car and took off, headed for College Heights.   

Two young males spent the night in  jail after a disturbance on Norwood resulted in one person being bear sprayed.  The suspects took off on foot, and were tracked by a Police Service Dog Unit.  The two will be held in custody pending further investigation.

Two vehicles were impunded, one after police had noticed  the driver  of a truck, squealing  the tires, and it turns out the driver’s license was prohibited.  The vehcile has been impounded. A second case had police check a vehicle in the area of Victoria and Milburn after it had been noticed weaving in its lane.  The driver had his license suspended for 24 hours, the vehicle  was impounded.
