The weather for the month of October was pretty much the norm for Prince George, says Jim Steele of Envirionment Canada.  His monthly breakdown shows the  temperatures were just a touch  cooler than normal.  The heavy snowfall west of Prince George was not typical for that region and the snowfall in the Prince George was more than normal.

Here's the breakdown:

TEMPERATURES

Mean Monthly Temperature 3.2 Normal 4.6

Mean Monthly Maximum 8.9 Normal 9.5

Mean Monthly Minimum -2.6 Normal -0.4

Records.. Not a one

Warmest Day on the 11th with a maximum temperature of 18.6 degrees.

Coolest Days were on the 29th and 30th with overnight minimums on both days minus 9.4 degrees.

PRECIPITATION

Total Monthly Precipitation 55.9 mm Normal 57.9 mm

Total monthly Rainfall 41.3 mm Normal 50.0 mm

Total monthly Snowfall 14.4 cm Normal 8.4 cm

Greatest precipitation in one day 24.8 mm on the 28th

Days with measurable Precipitation 12 Days Normal 15 Days

It was a very moist flow from the Pacific that brought copious amounts of rain and snow to the area. Some locations to the west of Prince George were blanketed by upwards of 60 cm of snow with local higher amounts.
