Prince George City Council has approved one of two planned liquor licence changes.

The first, adds a 20 seat patio to the Rafters Neighbourhood pub on Domano. This application was initially made in June of this year, but the owners agreed to put it on hold while the RCMP could see if there were any troubles at the pub over the summer. There weren’t any problems so the RCMP had no objections or concerns to post with the application. The additional seats will bring the Rafters Liquor Primary license to a full 70 seats.

The other application that was supposed to be  heard,  involved switching a liquor licence from one site to another.  The item was withdrawn, the public hearing did not go ahead.

Two other public hearings wrapped with Council’s approval.

One allows for a change to the zoning by-law that will clear the way for the construction of the underground parking lot at the new Gaming Centre. The by-law has stipulations about the flood plain. This amendment will allow the parking garage to go ahead even though it will be below the flood plain. A seperate permit will be presented dealing with the building

The fourth public hearing involved a request from Northern Toyota to use a piece of property adjacent to the dealership for the storage of duplicate inventory and snow . This will free up the dealership’s primary location and make it easier for customer parking. The City has approved the temporary use of the subject lands. That permit will expire in one year. City Staff say that should give Northern Toyota enough time to address the issues.

Was ther any doubt about bingo palace parking amendment being passed....
i didn't think so....
no one says no to mr major!
Times are tough, people drink. When times are good, people drink. Go figure. If the pub business don't work out, maybe they can sell the building to a church.

I'll say no to Mr major....
one can say no to Mr Major, or at least one could back in the days when I lived in PG and he used to join a group of us for coffee pretty regular. However, if he was on the right course it would be tough to dissuad him. What is wrong with parking out of sight?
The problem skabowl is you and i and the tax payers are paying for it....
Intersting note: There was a contractor standing by to start work immediately after councel ok'ed the new site....seeing as the city is paying for part of this fiasco...

when was the contractor bidding for the work done????

if it was major then i could really care less.
Underground parking on a flood plain? Kind of stupid, but then again, I hope word doesn't get around the rest of the province. Submarine parking there too at times? Duh!!
