24 four cars of a southbound CN train, have jumped the tracks  about 100 miles south of Chetwynd. 14 of the cars are still upright,  ten are on their side.

CN  spokesperson, Kelli Svendsen says neither of the two crew members on the train was hurt, and they are still assessing the situation.

The train was hauling 109 cars, and while most were carrying forestry products, there were some empty tanker cars as well.  "We are still assessing what environmental impact, if any, there has been" says Svendsen.

The derailment happened about around 6:00 this morning.

CN, you say ?

"Shocker !!"

*yawn* - Didn't we run this same news story a few times already ?
Thats ok they will say...
they didn't kill a bus full of kids yet...
Any other business that had encounteredt this many probelms would have been closed down pending an investigation...
so my though goes to "who is covering up for CN or hushing things up??????"
So it could be just a matter of time until Prince George comes up on the list. Anyone know how many hazardous goods are travelling via VIA? I understand that there are a few.

Yawn, "yike I can't breathe" yawn, byeeeeeeeee.
Well I just phoned both the MP and MLA....

Nobody in town but was told that I might get a call back in time...

Maybe if we all make that phone call pf concern to your respective Mp and MLA we might , just might get something started to have at least a safety investigation or something going before something happens where there is some damage done...heavens forbid!

What say all?

I made my concern heard...sort of...
but one voice won't get much done....

Phone anyways and tell them the call is being recorded.
Mine actually was..... nasty wasn't I?
The President of CN Rail is a fellow called Hunter Harrison, who's office is in Chicago Illinois. The CN Rail bought the Illinois Central Railway a number of years ago, and a few years later Hunter, who was the CEO of the Illinois Central became the President and CEO of CN Rail. Accidents seem to be on an increase since then.

Everytime there is a derailment or an accident by a Railway in Canada there is a specific procedure to be followed, and the Railways are compelled by law to file a report to the Federal Government explaining the nature of the accident etc; Every incident is kept on file. If it appears that the Railway is having a safety problem, then it is up to the Federal Government to look into it.

Maybe Hill, or Harris, could make a few phone calls to question the safety of CN Rail, however the information they will get, is the information that they always get.

(1)CN Rail has a better safety record that other Railways of its size in North America.

(2) We have an ongoing program to reduce safety risks at CN Rail and will continue to monitor this situation on a regular basis.

(3) Some derailments are a natural part of railroading, much the same as some car accidents are a natural part of driving.

And on, and on, it goes. Much like the RCMP investigating themselves, or like trying to get a straight answer from a CEO or a Politician.
