Bruce Sutherland , Chair of the Northern Development Trust along with Janine North, Chief Executive Officer for the Trust say they are very pleased with the turn out of Mayors , Regional District  representatives , First Nations and business to a conference being held in Prince George today to look into the opportunities for Bioenergy.
Sutherland said , "It’s a real credit to our crew here, we set this thing up with only 11 days, to plan it , and when you look around the room , and see people here from as far away as the Charlottes, out to the Alberta border,  and up into the Peace,  it gives you a pretty good feeling."
North said , "Its an indication of just how much interest there is in Bioenergy not only by Municipalities hoping to get into the electric and heat producing business , but independent business as well".
North said, "Don’t expect to get much from DuPont, they are here on a very low profile basis."

Low profile ,or not,  DuPont sponsored a noon luncheon buffet

Put bioenergy conference into a search engine and you will discover this is the new "in" reason to travel all over the world.

If you feel you do not get enough "hits", try biomass conference for a few more.

We may have a few in this community who are already booking their flights if they have not partaken of the fruit yet. :-)
So I guess we can expect our esteemed mayor to start flying all over the place in the name of attracting bioenergy investment in PG. He just goes with the flavour of the week. Eexpect the news releases from Colin's office outlining his itinerary over the next few months!
bingo!!! ;-)
"Don’t expect to get much from DuPont"

hmmm .... this may be the first time a major chemical company is taking a look at this neck of the woods. :-)

Using wood fibre as a feedstock for bio-fuels as well as chemicals is certainly a direction we ought to be looking at rather than simply burning the stuff with a significant loss during transmission of the energy such as in electricity and hot water production and transmission.
