About 100 friends and family were on hand at the Prince George Airport yesterday afternoon, to welcome home Gairett MacIver.

He is the 18 year old Prince George teen who has been in a Toronto Hospital since the 1st of August where he  underwent  quadruple organ transplant surgery.

Gairrett told reporters he is glad to be home, as he has missed his friends and family.  His mother, Lori,  has been with him every step of theway.

It took Doctors some time to diagnose  the teen's illness which first surfaced in 2001.  Over  a year and half, Gairett had suffered broken  his legs five times .  His mysterious illness was finally diagnosed as a deformation in the bowel that  periodically bled, causing damage to other organs.  During a 12 hour surgery, Gairett received a new bowel. stomach, liver  and pancreas.

He will have to take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of his life.

Family and friends had packed the arrivals area of the airport, and waived placards  that carried welcome home messages.  Gairett told reporters, "It feels good to be home".
