Constable Jason From, Mayor Colin Kinsley Helen Schwartz and Constable Catherine Pescolla  pose after  Helen Schwartz was presented with the Governor General’s "Caring Canadian Award"

Over 15 years,  Helen has offered her time to the Victim Services unit and the Community Policing programs of the RCMP.

The award was given in recognition of her compassion" often in the darkest moments, she provides  emotional support and guidance to victims of crime"

The release from the Governor General’s residence went on to say Helen’s "excellent organizational skills and availability are repeatedly called upon to set up, improve or assist in a range of RCMP volunteer programs.  Striving to help out, she is also an active member of her church, delivers food to homeless shelters and volunteers with other community services."

"This is a special evening as we get to  celebrate the efforts of someone in our community" said Mayor Kinsley.
