Prince George RCMP believe they have a suspect in custody in connection with an attempted robbery that involved violence at Walmart earlier this afternoon.

Police say they now have two men in custody after the pair was arrested at gunpoint in a stolen vehicle in a parking lot at Parkwood Place Mall, just before 4:00pm this afternoon.

Constable Gary Godwin says the two suspects were located in a stolen red Toyota Echo in the parking lot near Staples Office Supplies, off Winnipeg Street.  That’s the same vehicle reported fleeing the scene of the Walmart incident earlier this afternoon.

Constable Godwin is releasing more information with regards to what went on at Walmart.  He says a male believed to be shoplifting was challenged by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer, at which time the suspect pulled out a syringe and tussled with the officer.  Godwin says the store employee sustained a wound to his hand, but, at this point in time, it’s not known whether the injury was caused by the needle.

Meantime, the two arrested in the parking lot remain in custody while the police investigation continues.

Syringe, eh? I bet they are already out on their own recognizance with a promise to appear. I think they need a syringe registry.
DOn't take a syringe to a gunfight, bad guys! You'll loose....
Time to get firm with these low lifes. No more Mr. Nice Guy treatment. You get caught, your guilty until you can prove otherwise and you have just lost all of your rights. You get out when you have figured out what's wrong and are willing to acknowledge your full accountability and responsibility for your behavior. It's time innocent people are protected and the bad guys are locked up indefinitely. They are costing us more on the loose than when they are locked up. Build more prisons and fill em up. Chester
