Crews are attempting to clear a major snow avalanche on Highway 16-East, past the Tete Jaune intersection.
The snowslide has closed the highway, east of the intersection through to the Alberta border.
The Ministry of Transportation says crews are working on clearing the route, but it is not yet known just how long it will take to re-open the road.
The closure comes on the heels of an overnight closure on Highway 16-East near the Bowron Hill after a tractor-trailer unit rolled into the ditch and touched off a minor chain reaction.
At that time, the road was deemed impassable due to freezing rain.
