The atrium at Exploration Place is ready for this evening’s festivities

February 18th is the first day of the Chinese New Year, but Exploration Place is ringing in the Year of the Pig with its 4th annual fundraising dinner this evening.

Executive Director Tracy Calogheros says this is the first year the annual event has been a sell-out.  She says staff had originally planned for 110 to attend this evening’s event, but, due to demand, tables were added to accomodate 139 guests.

The evening features ’an exploration of modern asian cuisine’ from the award-winning Chef Moreno Miotto of the White Goose Bistro.

Also setting up earlier this afternoon were members of the Eric Tompkins Jazz Band.

Calogheros says the Chinese New Year celebration is one of just two main fundraisers for The Exploration Place, the other is the Commonwealth Golf Tournament held in the summer.

In addition to the dinner, there is also a silent auction with the numerous items donated on display (as in the photo below) around the perimeter of the atrium.
