One woman is in hospital with injuries suffered this morning when the bike she was riding slid under a vehicle.
Prince George RCMP say the 47 year old woman was not wearing a helmet when she was riding the bike southbound on a sidewalk along Quebec Street this morning. She approached 2nd Avenue at the same time a vehicle travelling southbound on Quebec , attempted to to turn on to 2nd Avenue.
The woman on the bike was not able to stop and she and the bike slid under the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, a 27 year old male, has been charged with failing to stop at a stop sign. The woman has been charged with riding her bike on a sidewalk and failure to wear a bicycle helmet.
Police say that as the weather improves, they are reminding motorists that more and more bicycles will be on the roads, they are also advising bicyclists that helmets must be worn, and police will enforce that law.
