One woman is in hospital  with  injuries suffered this morning when the bike she was riding slid under a vehicle.

Prince George RCMP say the 47 year old woman was not wearing a helmet when she was riding the bike southbound on a sidewalk along Quebec Street this morning.  She approached 2nd Avenue at the same time a vehicle travelling southbound on Quebec , attempted to to turn on to 2nd Avenue.

The woman on the bike  was not able to stop and she and the bike slid under the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, a 27 year old male,  has been charged with failing to stop at  a stop sign. The woman has been charged with riding her bike on a sidewalk and failure to wear a bicycle helmet.

Police say that as the weather improves,  they are reminding motorists that more and more bicycles will be on the roads, they are also  advising bicyclists that  helmets must be worn, and police will enforce that law.

Its snowy and slippery as heck out and she rides a frigging bike on the sidewalk.
What an idiot !!!!!!!!!!!!
Makes one wonder .....
"What Were You Thinking?"
both of them!
When I worked in Winnipeg many years ago the big boss pathologist used to ride a bike everywhere, even during Winnipeg winters. If it was too cold and windy to ride the bike, he would use it to balance himself while he pushed it through the snow. No helmet, either. He would stop to pick up dimes in intersections, too!
As long as he's not picking up hitch-hikers....
Lucky she didn't run in to the old codger on his four wheeled scooter on Fourth Ave. this afternoon. A motor vehicle no doubt by definition. A policeman drove right by him. No license, no insurance and no registration. Easy on the old folks, copper. Keep on the lookout fer these teens on unlicensed, unregistered and uninsured motor vehicles instead. Selective laws, eh? Life is full of contradictions. Ain't it? Alas!!
Lucky that only the bike slid under the vehicle.
BIKES SHOULD BE BANNED FROMK THE ROADS IN WINTER. JUST ABOUT HIT ONE ON FIRST AVE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. THEY HAVE ABSOLUTLY NO CONTROL IN SNOW AND ICE. MCFLY, YOU ARE RIGHT, THESE PEOPLE MUST BE CRAZY.
I was going to work this morning on Giscome Road near the Old Cariboo Highway at 6:30 a.m. while it was still dark. I came over the crest of the hill near Ruff's and here was this idiot riding his bike. The roads this morning were very slippery as everyone knows, with about 2 inches of snow, and he was riding in the right lane. He couln't ride on the side of the road because of the snow. If I hadn't been able to switch lanes he would have been under my vehicle. I can't believe there are fools like this.
Why don't you guys get together and buy these people cars? They probaly can not afford a vehicle to drive like you have so why not solve the problem by supplying them with cars. Then you can bit$ch and whine about what poor drivers they are. It must be nice to be wealthy enough to have all the answers like those above.
What a nice group you are. Hit by a car, which the RCMP allege failed to stop at a stop sign, and the response is to kick her when she's down. How nice. What do you do in your spare time? Kick kittens? Step on puppies' tails? Is a little human compassion just totally out of the question?

Let's put ourselves in that person's shoes for a minute. What are the odds that the bicycle is her only mode of transportation?

Regardless, so she made a mistake. Nobody here has made one? So to compound her injuries, a bunch of geniuses who APPARENTLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO TURN THEIR CAPS LOCK OFF decide to make fun of her? Nice.
Cops drive by bike riders riding down the wrong side of the road, sidewalks, through red lights and stop signs riders with no helmets without a second glance. Try that with your car and they'll throw you in jail.
Bicycles are not winter transportation. Get a grip on reality. Take the bus, or get a ride with someone that can afford a car.
What part of illegal to ride a bike on the sideWALK do you NOT understand???
And I will bet it does not have DOT approved for winter roads tires either...again Illegal.
And its illegal to ride without a helmet.
Maybe i should drive my truck on the downtown sidewalks all winter, while on summer tires, and not clearing my windows of any snow/ice !

Its about the same equivelant.

I will bet you a thousand dollars that driver was not expecting a bike to come flying off a sidewalk in the middle of a snow storm.
Hence, ya I think the rider is an IDIOT !!
